I read the Jungle Book with my son last year and it was heavy going abridging it - Kipling was very heavy on the 'thou and thines'. Not all of it has stood the test of time, but he did enjoy the one about the mongoose and the snake.

I love the writing in the Just So Stories, some of them are just crying out to be read aloud - but of course some of the attitudes and language needs a bit of adjusting at times!

I've never actually managed to get through The Jungle Book myself, so kudos!
